I have a 16 year old son that is in recovery for 9 months now. I have already posted my sons addiction journey and now things are better since he has been in recovery. He is making all of his meetings and is living the program. He has been through alot since he was 14 years old. He is addicted to crack and many other drugs. I am very proud of him right now. I would never have thought that I could be proud of him but since he is in recovery I have a son that is a drug addict and I am more proud of him today than I have ever been in his entire life. He takes it one day at a time and so do I. If there is anyone who needs to talk please feel free to mail me, I do need someone to talk to about this. I would love to hear some feed back from other parents. It does help me build more strength to get through.

Comments: My 20 year old son has been using drugs since early teens, but
I only found out about it when he was 17. He has been in and out of rehab since then.
Recently, I learned he is a habitual heroin addict. I knew in my heart and soul that if
I didn't do something to help him, I would be burying him. With God's help, he has gone into rehab in
Florida and then into his own aprtment. For today, he is clean and seems happy, but of course we all know with addiction, we take one day at a time.
Some support from other moms who've gone through what I have would be great!
I would also love emailing others for support.

Comments: I
am a mother of a 22 year old daughter in recovery for heroin.
Thank-you for this wonderful site, where mothers, fathers, siblings
etc..can come and feel comfort from others going through the same
thing. Its so hard for a parent to learn to live on one day at a
time, and to know your child can only assure you 'Just For Today, I
choose not to use drugs'. As parents we want to hear that they will
never touch drugs again. But I have come a long way also, and have
learned that 'Just For Today' is the best an addict can give you. So
I pray a lot and hope that I don't ever have to bury my daughter
from her addiction and she stays clean 'One Day At A Time'.

Comments: Son
29 ...almost 2 years. From Oxycontin to Vicodin to cocaine and now
heroin. Has been clean just 7 days. Left a Detoz after 36 hours. Hhe
and his wife have lost everything..I thank God each day that she
stands by him. We need prayers that he finds a rehab quickly. He has
the desire to recover..as he knows he has hit bottom. She has given
him this last chance to seek help or she will leave. She is a
beautiful girl...his childhood sweetheart. We just need to get him
professional help...he promises to attend meetings every night until
her can be admitted. I do believe we have reached him in time, but
after readings on this site, I may be mistaken. God it hurts to be a
Mom and watch your child destroy himself...I had him at the tender
age of 16...we grew up together. His father was killed by a drunk
state trooper, so he lacks that father figure in his life. I still
see the old Dana in him, please pray for us.

My son has been an addict since 14, started with pot went to crack
and finally heroin. In and out of rehabs, he is now 18. I had
to press charges on him and put him in a jail for juveniles. The
past 4 years have one big nightmare. He is coming home in
April and I am terrified. I really think he is going to go
back on drugs. I just don't know how to handle it
anymore. He also has tourettes disorder, which he can not cope
with.

My son is 31 years old and has been suffering from addiction since
his late teens. He went to rehab at 19 and I thought my
problems were over. He stayed clean for almost 5 years, got
his 4 year degree and an academic scholarship to law school.
He eventually was kicked out of law school because of his drug
problems. He moved to New York and has progressed to where he
has burned all his bridges and has moved in with an ex-girlfriend
user. They have no money for rent or food and are facing
eviction. He calls me all the time even though I have
told him I can no longer help him except to listen. I am
afraid now that if I don't do something to help him, he's going to
die. Do I continue to keep my distance or do I try to help him
one more time? I just don't know. Thanks for
giving me a place to talk about this.
